What is UKVoting?

A group of people, independent of the Committee, who are empowered by the Voting Procedures to conduct votes.

Since September 1995, newsgroup creation within the UK hierarchy has been governed by a set of Guidelines and an elected committee. It is hoped that most creations of new newsgroups within the UK hierarchy can be accomplished speedily and without the necessity for voting. When dissention arises, however, voting may be the only method of resolution. Obviously, to take the votes, you need votetakers, which is where UKVoting come in.

UKVoting is also willing to take votes for other hierarchies - for example, we took the vote on establishing the Terms of Reference for the Usenet Committee for the 'ie' hierarchy.
